On Monday night Nov 2nd Cosby hosted Smoky Mt Elementery in which the teams split on the night with Cosby taking the girls match up 36-18 lead by the hot hand of Tasha Ball as she had 25 pts on the night.

In the Boys Matchup Smoky evened things up winning  37 -15 having two players in double figures lead by Max Weeks 14 pts

Girls

Cosby would open the night taken the 1st qt 6-3 and with second qt being a close one cosby takes the halftime lead 10-6. Cosby would come out of the locker room and rush out to take the 3rd qt 14-5  and the final qt 11-7 to take the victory 36-18

Boys
 In the night cap Smoky would take the first qt 13-8 and in the second they would turn the defense up and not alow a point by Cosby making the halftime score 26-8. In The 3rd Smoky scored 11 to Cosby's 7 and in the fourth they would have another shut out taking the 4th qt  9-0 making the final margin 46-15

NEWPORT-The 2009-10 Cocke County Elementary School basketball season is off and running, tipping off this past Monday night, November 2, with Bridgeport at Del Rio, Smoky Mountain at Cosby, Centerview at Northwest and Parrottsville at Grassy Fork.

Smoky Mountain 18

This is a big rivalry, but the Lady Bears couldn't find a way to stop the Lady Eagles' Tasha Ball. The Lady Eagles held a 6-3 first quarter lead, and made it 10-6 at the break. But Ball exploded for 17 second-half points to boost the Lady Eagles to a 24-11 third quarter lead, and eventually the 18-point victory. Ball finished with a game-high 25 points for the Lady Eagles while Cyara Williams had 13 points to pace the Lady Bears.

Cosby (36): Tasha Ball 25, Morgan Ticer 4, Jaylon Dunn 2, Brooke Schrader 2, Ivye Fine 2, Kaylie Webb 1.

Smoky Mountain (18): Cyara Williams 13, Miranda Williams 2, Courtney Napieralski 2, Alpha Parton 1.

The Smoky Bears established themselves early, and the Eagles couldn't manage to keep up. The Smoky Bears led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, and 26-8 at the break. It was 37-15 Smoky Bears at the end of three before they cruised home with the 31-point victory. Max Weeks had a game-high 14 points for the Smoky Bears while Brody Williams had 5 points to lead the Eagles.

Smoky Mountain (46): Max Weeks 14, Jacob Grooms 12, Justin Shelton 9, Dereck Weeks 3, Jonathon Douglas 2, Lucas Weeks 2, Jackie Gibson 2, Cody Valentine 2.

NEWPORT-It was round two of the Cocke County elementary school basketball season this past Thursday night at four locations. On the schedule were Northwest at Edgemont, Centerview hosting Grassy Fork, Cosby at Parrottsville and Bridgeport at Smoky Mountain.

The Lady Bears held the early advantage, but the Lady Rockets proved to be too strong once warmed up. The Lady Bears lead 6-5 at the end of the first quarter, and 10-8 at the break. But, the Lady Rockets woke up in the second half, pulling into the lead, 17-11, at the end of three, and then cruising home with the 12-point victory. A. Williams had a game-high 16 points, 11 of those in the fourth quarter, to lead the Lady Rockets while Cyara Williams had 11 points to lead the Lady Bears.

Bridgeport (29): A. Williams 16, K. Burgess 7, Courtney Cox 4, A. Frazier 2.

Smoky Mountain (17): Cyara Williams 11, Alpha Parton 2, Miranda Williams 2, Kaitlyn McReynolds 2.

The Smoky Bears were on their game on this night, jumping on the Rockets for a 14-4 first quarter lead and 27-14 lead at the break. The Smoky Bears were up 34-20 at the end of three, and cruised home with the 24-point victory. Max Weeks had a game-high 15 points to lead the Smoky Bears while Patrick Hurst had 12 points to pace the Rockets.

Smoky Mountain (44): Max Weeks 15, Jacob Grooms 8, Justin Shelton 6, Dereck Weeks 5, Cody Valentine 4, Jordon Self 2, Lucas Weeks 2, Ronnie Weeks 2.

This was a tight contest until the fourth quarter. The Lady Parrotts held a slim one-point advantage, 11-10, over the Lady Bears at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Bears managed to slip past the Lady Parrotts for an 18-16 lead at the break. But, the Lady Parrotts came back to take a 26-25 lead heading into the final quarter. The Lady Bears tightened the screws defensively, and turned it up a notch on offense to pull away with a nine-point victory. Cyara Williams had a game-high 19 points to lead the Lady Bears while Elizabeth Walker had 14 points to pace the Lady Parrotts.

Smoky Mountain (42): Cyara Williams 19, Alpha Parton 9, Miranda Williams 6, Courtney Napieralski 4, Harley Gregg 3, Kaitlyn McReynolds 1.

The Smoky Bears were too much to handle for the Parrotts on this night. The Smoky Bears jumped out to a 16-9 first quarter lead, and made it 32-17 at the Break. The Smoky Bears were still rolling in the second half, leading 41-19 at the end of three, and cruising home with the 29-point victory. Max Weeks had a game-high 17 points to lead the Smoky Bears while D.J. Holt and Ike Rouleau each had five points to pace the Parrotts.

NEWPORT-It was Round Four of the Cocke County elementary school basketball season this past Thursday night, and the season is in full throttle.
On Thursday, games were played at four locations with Centerview playing at Edgemont, Northwest at home to Smoky Mountain, Cosby at Bridgeport and Parrottsville hosting Del Rio.

The Lady Bears were off and running, and the Lady Patriots simply couldn't slow them down. The Lady Bears led 20-1 at the end of the first quarter and 30-5 at the break. With coach Rob Napieralski clearing his bench, the Lady Bears led 35-13 after three and rambled home with the 23-point victory. Cyara Williams had 15 points to lead the Lady Bears while Markisha Allen had a game-high 17 points to pace the Lady Patriots.

The Smoky Bears were popping the Patriots early and often, leading 20-4 after the first quarter, 34-11 at the break, 50-18 after three and then cruising home with the 31-point victory. Max Weeks had a game-high 20 points to lead the Smoky Bears while Kinsler Rhea had 15 points to pace the Patriots.
